Radio That Doesn’t Suck

If you’re like me, you’re sick of most or all of your local radio stations. There
are too many commercials, the morning shows aren’t funny and you’d rather hear music
anyhow, the formats are stale, the playlists are too short and repeat too much,
modern rock is trite and offensive, and only bands with major contracts get played.
Well, there’s an alternative. It’s not on FM, but it’s still cool enough to mention.
It’s Radio Paradise.
Give it a listen sometime.

Each hour of music is carefully blended together to flow smoothly between different
musical styles & genres – just like real DJs used to do on FM. We don’t use
the computer-generated playlists or “carefully researched music libraries”
that have sucked the soul out of FM radio – and we never just throw songs together
at random the way many web stations do.

We also depend on input from you to help fine-tune our music mix. If you hear something
that you feel strongly about (either positively or negatively), please take a moment
to post a comment on that song. Just click the song title on the playlist or in
the mini-browser window. We’d also love to hear from you if there’s an artist you
don’t hear, but think would fit in with our music mix. Registered users can upload
suggested additions to the library for review.

Tiptoe Through the TULIP

This
is a little late because I’ve been too busy to stay on top of things. Anyhow, Jollyblogger
has written several posts about the
five points of Calvinism
(i.e TULIP: total depravity, unconditional election,
limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints). There’s
an uberpost that links to the whole series
. Most, if not all, of these
points are incompatible
or even antithetical to the teachings of the Catholic Church
. I’m hoping one
or more of my Catholic readers will write a rebuttal post.

P.S. If you do write a rebuttal, please email me a link so I can let my readers know.

Disordered Appetites

Pornography rapes the mind.

“Internet pornography is the new crack cocaine, leading to addiction, misogyny, pedophilia, boob jobs and erectile dysfunction, according to clinicians and researchers testifying before a Senate committee Thursday [November 18, 2004].” – Internet Porn: Worse Than Crack?

For those who suffer from sexual addictions, I have good news. The Order of the Legion of Saint Michael (home to blogs Bro. Bubba’s Journal and Catholics in the Know) has reopened the Catholic Support Group for Sexual Addiction Recovery. CSGAR “is a Catholic group of fellow sufferers from addition to pornography, lust, and sins of the flesh”.

“CSGSAR is a safe place (as a computer discussion group can be) where people with the common bonds of being Catholic followers of Christ and being fellow sufferers of sexual addictions may share and seek support for our struggles with this addiction. We offer resources for ‘Tips on How to Avoid Sin’, advice and remedies given by the Church and the saints, and the fellowship of fellow sufferers. You are not alone.”
