I’ve been told umpteen times that my blog loads too slowly. To remedy this, I’ll be playing around with different themes for a while. As that happens, functionality may come and go, but the content will always be there (barring a destructive database goof).

Poverty and Libertarianism

While personally admiring of some principles of libertarianism, I’ve tended to think of libertarians as the partisans of employed, healthy, childless, college educated people. That said, America’s current political climate has had me rethinking my priorities for what should be done now.

Blogfest 12

a still from a video of a videoI attended Blogfest 12 tonight. Also in attendance was Andrew Stockey of WTAE. I took the opportunity to show my geek credentials by capturing webcam video of Andrew’s cameraman capturing video for a story. Unfortunately, the audio level was set too high, so the video isn’t fun to listen to. It’ll be good for some stills, though. The only video clip I’ll likely upload is of Andrew’s multiple takes for a teaser.

Your Civic Duty ‘n’at

State and local elections are this Tuesday: there are two open seats in the State Supreme Court and four in the Superior Court, so please don’t blow off voting this Tuesday! The LifePac of Southwest PA list of recommended candidates is here.

There is also a vote to retain Thomas Saylor who I’d recommend you vote for, as he was the lone dissenter when the Supreme Court allowed the Legislature to vote itself an unconstitutional raise in 2005. Superior Court retention candidate Joan O. Melvin also distinguished herself in giving back her raise to the state, so there’s another reason to vote for her.
