A New Pigeon Hole?

I've often said that I hate the two-party political system, but if I'm forced to use a partisan label, I call myself a Casey Democrat. After reading this, I think I might be a sort of white Cosby Republican. Socially conservative and fiscally liberal? Yeah, I dig that. (HT: Ambiviblog)

On a related note, I was shocked to hear that Al "Rent-a-Mob" Sharpton is urging blacks to stop blindly supporting the Democratic Party. Somebody had to say it, but did it have to be him?! (HT: PowerBlog!)

Search Me III

Occasionally I post some of the more interesting search engine queries that bring
people here. Here’s July’s batch.

Mo Cuishla: I’m amazed that this still such a popular search. Perhaps the DVD was released recently. Anyhow, it means “my darling, my blood”.

do you walk to work or carry your lunch: Are these mutually exclusive on your planet?!

last ruling on Catholic Purgatory: I have no idea what ruling is intended or by whom. I do know we still believe in it.

presentation on the life cycle of a serial killer: Replace “serial killer” with “praying mantis” and you have a nature program on PBS.

toga party and catholic: I guess the new pope is wilder than his predecessor. 😉

free turn paper on beneficial side of stem cells: Downloading term papers is plagiarism and grounds for failing most courses or worse. Thinking “term papers” are “turn papers” means you deserve to fail.

I had sex with my gay brother-in-law: Say what now?! How in Heaven’s name did this search lead someone to my blog?

transgender who wants to be a woman and a leg amputee: Um…Eww.

regain virginity surgery: Huh? Somebody failed health class in high school.

transgender leg amputee personal dating: Who are these freaks?!

“Watson, come here; I want you.”

I just had a nice conversation (via Skype)
about Doctor Who with UK blogger Richard
Hall
(connexions). 🙂

If you’d like to chat, my Skype handle is FunkyDung (all one word). I can’t promise
I’ll be around to answer, though.

BTW, UK blogger Adrian

is also using Skype. As are Dr.

Book Meme

I’ve been tagged by Holy Fool.

1. How many books have I owned?

Roughly 300. I currently have around 200.

2. What was the last book you bought.

That’s a hard one. I tend to buy more books than I have time to read. Consequently, they end up collecting dust for a few months (or longer). as a substitution, I’ll tell you that the book I’m currently reading is Teachings of the Church Fathers> by John Willis. I’m finding it quite fascinating. 🙂

3. The last book that you’ve read.

I just recently finished Lord, Have Mercy by Scott Hahn. The content was good but the presentation was a little too simplistic for my taste.

5 books that have meant a lot to you.

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton
War of the Worlds> by H.G. Wells
1984 by George Orwell
Brave New World by Aldus Huxley

5. Tag five people that haven’t played yet.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Below is a prayer to the Sacred
Heart that was printed on prayer cards my wife and I gave out at our wedding.

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to Thy will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of final perseverance.
