GOP Bribing Geeks

"Vote Republican. It's easier than thinking"

Support Bush, Win a Mouse Pad
GOP Team Leader site beckons digital lobbyists to churn out mass e-mail for points, prizes.
By Daniel Tynan

"John Pinckney of Muncie, Indiana, thinks President Bush is 'demonstrating genuine leadership' in steering the nation's economy. So do Kyle Klink of Rochester, New York; Stephanie Johnson of Milton, Massachusetts; and Michael Snyder of Merced, California. In the past two weeks, they and three dozen others have published identical letters to media sites, including the Boston Globe and Chicago Tribune—with the help of some online political maneuvering. "

Lame and pathetic. What's next, a free lobotomy?

Yes, every decent blog HAS to mention GOP "astroturfing!" This stuff goes agaisnst most newspaper editorial policies, but no one has time to check them.

Credit is usually given to Atrios (http://atrios.blogspot.com) for making this a Blogosphere (silly word) sensation.

And they give you points for doing this stuff … as if you were some kind of kid selling candy bars.

Does this mean the GOP feels honest, grassroots democracy is a joke? I guess the 2000 primaries proved that already. They know that their voters aren't paying much attention and that the public at large can be persuaded by carefully spun WH "editorials." They probably just fear their truest supporters on the bottom who have various … umm … ugly thoughts on things.
