2006 Pittsylvania Mile Run

Thisentryis part 5 of 13 in the 2006 Running

I ran the Pittsylvania Mile today. I was the only guy in the 20-29 group, and 30-39 was empty, so I ended with the 40-49 crowd. They all kicked my butt. That's OK, though, because I wasn't to beat anyone but myself. A couple months ago, I set a goal for myself to run a mile in under 7:30. With training help from my buddies in West Penn Track Club, I achieved that goal.

7:10! Woohoo!

I told you it would be closer to 7:00! Good job. I bet if you'd have someone running at your pace, you could have made 7 flat, too. You're not familiar with the mile, which could easily take 10 sec. off your time — especially if you could have tucked in behind someone running that pace and let them cut the air resistance.

Again, good job, and congrats on taking first in your age group.
