Reading this Theomorph post got "Dueling Banjos" stuck in my head. I definitely sympathize with his contempt for NASCAR.
Is it okay to loathe my customers? When they come in reeking of stale cigarette smoke and asking only for books about NASCAR or World War II airplanes (”Not the pilots or the history, just the planes!”) am I allowed to think, “Go back to your trailer, but first let me have some of your money”?

Ironically enough, on religious and social policy, you may find more agreement amongst NASCAR fans than your academic colleagues, so I guess even tobacco-chewing hillbillies can be saved.
