I'm not tolerant of homosexuality, but I don't think children of homosexual parents should be treated any less respect than those of heterosexual parents, adopted parents, or single parents. On the other hands, I hope Nickelodeon doesn't plan to legitimize homosexual lifestyles for children.

Recently I found myself in a classroom conversation with a group of 15- and 16-year-old girls about sex and relationships. Bogged down at one point over the question of sexual values, I said, “How about if we shift gears? Let’s talk about the meaning that sex is supposed to have in people’s lives. Maybe that will help us think more clearly.” “Meaning?” the girl next to me said, looking totally nonplussed. “Sex is supposed to have meaning? What do you mean by that?” My heart sank.I knew that popular culture had undermined fundamental values, but until that moment I hadn’t realized, or accepted, quite how profoundly. Schools demand ‘biblical right to smack children’
Private Christian schools must be allowed to smack pupils with parents’ consent, the Court of Appeal has heard. Forty schools, spearheaded by the Christian Fellowship School in Liverpool, want a change in the law to allow them to use corporal punishment. Their attempt to challenge legislation banning smacking in schools by claiming it did not apply to independents was rejected by the High Court last year. They claim it is part of a religious doctrine protected by the European Convention on Human Rights.
