“Father” Bill

An article in today’s Pitt News has some misleading information.  In the section addressing Lent, "Father" Bill Hausen, of Christ Hope Church, is quoted. Hausen broke away from the Catholic Church in 2004. He has been excommunicated and is no longer longer recognized as a priest by the Church, the sacraments he offers are not valid, and attending services at Christ Hope does not satisfy one’s Sabbath obligation.

Bill Again

Scare tactics?!? Starting an unauthorized church is schismatic. General absolution is heretical. This guy has more than a few loose screws.

"The Rev. William C. Hausen thinks of the Roman Catholic Church as an institution of the Middle Ages, an entity that shuns new ideas and contrary positions."

Heretic

This guy isn’t just a schismatic or wayward. He’s heretical.

"The Sacrament of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) will be offered to all who attend the Liturgy"

All? That is absolutely forbidden by the Church. Valid confirmation and no stain of mortal sin are required.

"Father Bill Hausen is a validly ordained Priest. He has not and will not resign his Priesthood. As taught in Catholic Theology, ‘Once a Priest, always a Priest.’"

Not for long he isn’t. He was validly ordained, but he can just as easily be validly defrocked.

The main issue here is not his opinions on ordination. That only got him moved ("Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.") The problem is his rejection of Church Tradition and authority.
