Election

Since tomorrow's Election Day in the U.S., I thought it'd be interesting to discuss election of a different sort. I wanted to write a lengthy post about the Elect of God and the Rite of Election, but didn't have time. Perhaps when the latter occurs during the course of RCIA, I'll give it proper coverage. In the meantime, here's what the Encyclopedia has to say about issues related to election. I'd be very interested to hear Protestants comment on these articles and tell me a bit about how their churches define election.

Elect
Justification
Salvation
General Judgment
Particular Judgment
Predestination
Grace

    Funky,

I've been meaning to respond to this very interesting question for quite some time, but, alas, it is an extremely broad (read: "time-consuming") question. And the little ol' election got in the way, too.

    My short answer is:

My "church" doesn't have views (i.e., catechism) on such questions. That fact is, itself, a view I suppose… albeit a very weak one. In fact, we (most evangelicals) don't have a catechism at all. This may explain the intellectual weakness (and political gullibility) of "my people."

    TTFN…
