This Song is My Song

I’m sure by now most have heard that the hilarious JibJab parody of “This Land”
by Woody Guthrie is under
attack
from the copyright owners of the latter.

BoingBoing has added an interesting twist to the debate. ‘Twould seem good ol’ Guthrie
wasn’t
particularly anal
about copyrights himself.

“What does that hanger thingy mean?”

There’s been much ado over the goods being hawked by Planned Parenthood. This cute
little bag
, was spotted by the eagle eyes of Sed
Contra
reader, Hugo Schwyzer.

Feministe, a blog whose quip is “Dismantle Globally, Rebuild Locally”,
has a
post
that plugs the bag. When I read the
post she quotes
, it nearly made me physically ill.

[NOTE: Planned Parenthood neither makes nor sells the handbag mentioned. Any implication of that was accidental. The PP merchandise was a convenient introduction, but I left out a transitional thought. I apologize for any confusion- Funky]

Inconvenient

"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish." – Mother Theresa

"It's not the back of a pickup at 16, but now I'm going to have to move to Staten Island. I'll never leave my house because I'll have to care for these children. I'll have to start shopping only at Costco and buying big jars of mayonnaise. Even in my moments of thinking about having three, I don't think that deep down I was ever considering [having all three babies]." – Amy Richards

Welcome to the culture of death.

I almost didn't blog about "When One is Enough", since so many other blogs already have. I decided I had to though, because the mentality described in it is recklessly and immorally selfish. It shows just how shallow and disrespectful of motherhood modern feminists can be.

Sed Contra has a very insightful and restrained analysis of this obscenity.

Chick This Out

A Saintly
Salmagundi
reminded me of someone who makes my blood boil – Jack Chick. It’s
one thing to think Catholic teachings are unbiblical, but resorting to poor scholarship
and outright lies to turn people against the Church is un-Christian.

I wish Bill Cosby
would speak out against Kweisi Mfume. Mr. Mfume basically says that blacks can’t
think for themselves and vote their principles if those principles aren’t rabid
liberalism.

Mfume
calls black conservatives puppets

Conservative black organizations are formed and funded by white Republicans, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume said yesterday in an address to a packed ballroom at the group’s annual convention here.
“When the ultraconservative right-wing attacker has run out of attack strategy,” Mr. Mfume said, “he goes and gets someone that looks like you and me to continue the attacks.”

Paraphrasing a line from a 2002 speech by NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, he said, “And like the ventriloquist’s dummies, they sit there in the puppet master’s voice, but we can see whose lips are moving, and we can hear his money talk.”
In a speech punctuated by cheers from the audience, Mr. Mfume said: “They can’t deal with the leaders we choose for ourselves, so they manufacture, promote and hire new ones.”

And the NAACP wonders why Bush wouldn’t speak at their gathering.
