Terri Schiavo’s Wishes

"M. SCHIAVO: I won’t give it up. Terri is my life. I’m going to carry out her wishes to the very end. This is what she wanted. It’s not about the Schindlers, it’s not about me, not about Congress, it’s about Terri."

….

"KING: Do you understand how [her parents] feel?"

"M. SCHIAVO: Yes, I do. But this is not about them, it’s about Terri. And I’ve also said that in court. We didn’t know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want…"

"The evidence provided by a standard of clear and convincing evidence is that it is Mrs. Schiavo’s wish that she not be allowed to continue in a persistent vegetative state" – Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla.

The only clear thing here is that Michael Schiavo is talking out boths sides of his mouth.

Some People

Somestimes I just have to scratch my head and say, "Huh?"

I mean, contrast the Unspace (moderate/conservative Christian who sings the church choir) on the Dobson attack against Spongebob vs.crazy Funky Dung’s defensive take that there is a homosexual conspiracy that needs to be fought and the criminals killed, by implication I guess. (Read this for more on this kind of pathology logically extended…)

Do I or did I ever believe that there’s homosexual conspiracy? Did I ever imply that the criminals ( I assume he means homosexuals and their co-conspirators) be killed? Would I ever suggest such a thing?!?

No. I merely suggested that people should dig through caches and archives in search of the evidence Dr. Dobson spoke of. If it’s there, that’s news. If it’s not there, it’s still news. Apparently, it’s there. That doesn’t mean I think their’s some kind of conspiracy (a pink scare, if you will). It does mean that WAFF has some explaining to do.

Now who’s the paranoid? BTW I won’t be linking to this bizarre critic of mine. "I just find his prattling about the nuances of his fantasy belief system to be really uninteresting."

Radio on TV

Regular readers know I listen to The Marty Minto Show on 101.5 WORD-FM (my Protestant readers
will be happy to know that Marty’s an Evangelical pastor 😉 ).
Tomorrow, people in the state of Pennsylvania will get to see him on
TV. Today, PCN taped his
show. It’ll be airing tomorrow at 5 PM. Check your channel lineup and
tune in. 🙂

The Grand Wizard of Earthsea

I love the Earthsea series of books. I’ve read the original trilogy and the follow-up,
Tehanu. I hope to pick up the new stories some day soon. I was really looking forward
to watching the Sci-Fi Channel’s screen adaptation of the first two books of the
trilogy, but now I’m less enthused.

A Whitewashed Earthsea
How the Sci Fi Channel wrecked my books.
By Ursula K. Le Guin

On Tuesday night, the Sci Fi Channel aired its final installment of Legend of Earthsea, the miniseries based – loosely, as it turns out – on my Earthsea books. The books, A Wizard of Earthsea and The Tombs of Atuan, which were published more than 30 years ago, are about two young people finding out what their power, their freedom, and their responsibilities are. I don’t know what the film is about. It’s full of scenes from the story, arranged differently, in an entirely different plot, so that they make no sense. My protagonist is Ged, a boy with red-brown skin. In the film, he’s a petulant white kid. Readers who’ve been wondering why I “let them change the story” may find some answers here.

Life Is Worth Living

The title of this post was the name of a TV show hosted by Archbishop Fulton Sheen.
It was so popular that it got better ratings than Milton Berle. Sheen, so far as
I can tell, was a very holy man and was responsible for leading a lot of people
into the Church. There’s
apparently some momentum for starting his cause for canonization
. I’m all for
it.
