Good Ol’ Florida

Those who’ve been reading this blog for a while know that I’ve made multiple
mentions
of the idiocy that take place in Florida. Quinnipiac University has
released the data from a recent
poll
regarding the upcoming election and how Floridians perceive it. I’ll leave
careful scrutiny of the numbers as an exercise for the reader. 😉

Journalism Rant

There’s been a lot of talk lately of the potential effects on mainstream journalism by blogging. One improvement I’d suggest is linking to source material!!! It drives me nuts when a journalist posts a story about some survey, poll, website, research, or whatever and doesn’t tell us where to find it!

To any journalists reading this (yeah, right), if you’re going to summarize someone else’s work, please tell your humble readers where to find the material in its entirety. Thank you.

Here’s an example. Would it really have hurt to provide a link to Vote for Change or Rock for Life?

Pro-Eugenics Candidate Running for Congress Again

A Republican candidate for Congress in 2004, repudiated by the GOP for his support of eugenics and talk of “favored races,” has again made it onto the ballot in Tennessee. But evidently not for long. James L. Hart, 62, who marched with Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, will be the subject of a Republican Executive Committee meeting March 25 for a vote on whether he is a “bonafide Republican,” or should be stricken from the ballot in Tennessee’s Eighth Congressional District. Hart won 8,227 votes in the Republican primary election in 2004 and went on to collect 59,853 votes in the general election won by incumbent Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn., with 173,623 votes.

This
guy won’t do anything to help the Republican party’s reputation as being the
“rich white guy” party. I’d like to see him debate Alan Keyes.
