Biography Game

We all want the people we read about to be somebody else.

Suppose you could choose somebody to write your biography. It can be any person currently alive, except for people who have met you. These days it’s hard to define "met you," so I’ll define it as making eye contact. For extra fun, neither you or anybody else can directly tell that person anything about you. All they get to go off of is records you’ve left behind. Photos, papers, records, diaries, report cards, etc. Any kinds of documents, but no first-hand accounts. Depending on who you pick, they may twist things or interpret events one way or the other.

So who would you pick, and why?

Denomination-hopping As State Transitions

A strange thought just occurred to me. There are always people leaving one denomination (or even religion) and entering another. I wonder if the conversion and apostacy rates could be modelled as molecules evaporating from one liquid and condensing in another. Members since birth and converts that either never leave or leave only after a long time could be modelled as members of solids. In these models, temperatures would be indicative of scandal, heresy, revival, reform, and other major causes of movement between denominations. Also, different groups would have different state transition temperatures, reflecting relative cohesiveness.

Thoughts?

Accidental Conversation

Sometimes the headlines that appear in the Findory box at the bottom of this blog
almost look like lines in a conversation. Here’s one from yesterday:

Prydain: “Father
of 9/11 hijacker: 50-year religious war coming”

Relapsed Catholic: “Are
dancing midgets involved?”

Connexions: “I
canna change the laws of physics”

I couldn’t help but giggle and though you folks might enjoy giggling, too. 😀
