It’s rather disappointing to see that a major Christian denomination has to bother debating the issue of abortion. Even if you could argue against the personhood of a first-term fetus, no Christian should advocate abortion as "emergency contraception". The very phrase turns my stomach. "Oh no! I’m infected with a child! Get it out!"

By the way, while I sympathize with victims of rape and incest, the child did not wrong anyone and does not deserve to be executed for someone else’s sin.

Scripture tells us to be in the world but not of it. Obviously somebody forgot to tell the Anglicans. The implication of these actions is that if it’s legal in man’s law, it should be legal in God’s law. "It has the state’s blessing. Why shouldn’t it have ours?" Oy. I bet this kind of thing drives Pontificator nutty.

Ordination of actively homosexual priests is wrong, but at least it’s an issue that intelligent individuals can debate rationally. Having regular pet attendance at communion, however, is absolutely ridiculous. I wonder how widely this practice is considered acceptable by the Anglican hierarchy.

Unfortunately, I’ve experienced some of the familial anti-Catholicism this blogger
describes. My mom is a bitter ex-Catholic and we often get into nasty arguments
over religion. Compared the following situation, I’m quite lucky, though. My mother
and I have a loving relationship filled with plenty of healthy communication. A
good friend of mine had it worse when he converted from Judaism to Evangelical Christianity
and then to Catholicism.

Dilemma

How discouraging it was for me to learn today that not only is my mother-in-law
displeased with our conversion to Catholicism, she honestly believes we’ll be going
to hell if we persist in it.
