Bloggin’ in Da Burgh

Bloggers of the greater Pittsburgh region, unite! An enterprising young gentleman by the name of Mike Woycheck has put together a "home" for us. 🙂

I've added my blog to Pittsburgh Webloggers. Now my Burgh buddies need to get on board. C'mon, Donna, Amy, Adam, Fr. Mike, Andrea, and anyone I've forgotten! When you submit, don't forget to fill in the "Other" field (for blog type) with "Religion". Let's get Mike to add that as a permanent category.

Dude, Check Out This Research!

Since this research was performed in Pittsburgh and I frequently use the word “dude”
myself, I couldn’t resist posting this.

Linguist Deciphers Uses of Word ‘Dude’

PITTSBURGH – Dude, you’ve got to read this. A linguist from the University of Pittsburgh has published a scholarly paper deconstructing and deciphering the word “dude,” contending it is much more than a catchall for lazy, inarticulate surfers, skaters, slackers and teenagers.

Beautiful Church Closes

Every Holy Thursday, one or more of the Pittsburgh Oratorians takes
people on a tour of seven churches for adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament. Occasionally listed among those seven churches has been St.
Nicholas on the North Side (not to be confused with its sister church,
St. Nicholas in Millvale). As I recall (It’s been a while since my last
visit), it’s a
beautiful church
. It has the classy look of artisitic sacred
architecture, something woefully lacking in most modern churches.
Today, I was saddened to read that the
Diocese of Pittsburgh has decided to close it down
. If you’ve ever
seen the beauty of St. Nicholas and wish to see it preserved, I strongly
urge you to contact the diocese.
