Inappropriate for Children

Mom
Protests Middle School’s Orlando Outing During ‘Gay’ Pride Week

By Jim Brown and Jenni Parker
April 30, 2004

“(AgapePress) – A Florida parent is outraged that her son’s public school has
planned its sixth- and seventh-grade trip to Orlando during the city’s “Gay
Days Celebration.””

The fact that numerous gay couples will be walking around Disney World while children
are visiting wouldn’t be a problem if they behaved appropriately. However not only
is their behavior indecent by general societal standards, but it is particularly
unbefitting a children’s theme park.

Family Tree…er…Chain

This seems like a cool tradition. Maybe I could start something similar with my family.

Family Continues 87-Year Chain Letter
By RUSS BYNUM

“SAVANNAH, Ga. – The fat manilla envelope arrives in Doug Pletcher’s mailbox every year, stuffed with letters and photographs from uncles and cousins of some 24 branches of his family tree scattered from Florida to California. “

Not So Tolerable

It would seem that Americans aren't as accommodating of homosexuality as the media had lead me to believe. Perhaps hope remains.

Poll shows backlash on gay issues
By Susan Page

"WASHINGTON – Americans have become significantly less accepting of homosexuality since a Supreme Court decision that was hailed as clearing the way for new gay civil rights, a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll has found. After several years of growing tolerance, the survey shows a return to a level of more traditional attitudes last seen in the mid-1990s."

Tolerance?

I'm not tolerant of homosexuality, but I don't think children of homosexual parents should be treated any less respect than those of heterosexual parents, adopted parents, or single parents. On the other hands, I hope Nickelodeon doesn't plan to legitimize homosexual lifestyles for children.

Nickelodeon to air special on gay parents despite protests

"NEW YORK (AP) — Despite a staggering 100,000 e-mails and phone calls in protest, Nickelodeon will telecast a special for children about same-sex parents on Tuesday night. "

Sick Sense of Ethics

What?!? How is letting them be born stranger than chopping them up for science???

A Home for Their Embryos
By Ellen S. Glazer

Carla has both a close friend and a close family member who are struggling with infertility and she acknowledges that she thought about donating the embryos to one of them. As an infertile person with close friends who had adopted, Carla had many positive feelings about adoption. How wonderful, it briefly seemed, to have someone close to her “adopt” her embryos. However, like most others who give some thought to embryo adoption, Carla realized that giving her embryos to someone else was fundamentally different from adoption: adoption is a loving solution to a social problem. This, by contrast, would mean bringing children into the world whose fate had been sealed in an embryology lab. It was simply too strange — the idea that their full biological children would be raised in another family. The fact that that family would be close to them did not make the option any more appealing.
