An Open Question To God-Bloggers

In a comment on another blog, Mike Russell of Eternal Perspectives said something that I found very interesting.

"I notice that Catholic Blogs are now included on the Blogdom of God aggregator; it's why I'm using it less and less. Not that I don't think they have thoughtful or good posts: I'm just looking for evangelical stuff when I go there. If I want Catholic, I'll go to a Catholic aggregator."

I think that since the Blogdom of God was founded as "loose affiliation of self-declared 'God bloggers'", it should accept all Christians, regardless of denomination. I have noticed, though, that the bulk of participating blogs in BoG are run by Evangelicals. Thus, I have a question for members of BoG and God-bloggers at large.

Should the Blogdom of God be restricted to Evangelical blogs? Protestant blogs? Christian blogs? Monotheistic blogs? What limitations, if any, should be placed on membership? Why or why not? Should the name of the aggregator reflect proposed membership requirements?

Blogaversary!

Today is my third official blogaversary. I say official because I actually started
blogging some time in November 2001, but my blogging software ate my entries. I
salvaged most of them and posted them on April
17, 2002
. If you’d like to get an approximate idea idea of what my blog looked
like back (when it was called Scribbled Lines), check out this

New Feature: My Regular Reads

I recently realized that my blogroll was getting unreasonably large. Its contents
run gamut from mere reciprocal links to my favorites. Rather than prune that list,
I decided to more prominently feature those blogs that I read on a regular basis.
If I left your blog out, please don’t be offended. I probably read it, just not
as frequently. I have hundreds of blogs in my RSS reader. The blogs listed under
“my regular reads” in the right-hand column are those which I read on
a daily or nearly-daily basis, with or without RSS.

For the lazy folks among my readers, here is the list, so you don’t have to go looking
for it elsewhere. 😉

Broadening Horizons

Due to my connection to the Blogdom of God and other similar groups, I have access to more conservative blogs than I care to read. There seems to be a high degree of correlation in the orthodox Christian sector of the blogosphere to political conservatism and support for the Republican party in particular. That’s not my bag. That’s not to say I’m hard-core Democrat, either. Call me a Casey Democrat if you must label me. I prefer to call myself "extreme center", or as my new quip says, "stuck in the middle with you" (i.e. most ordinary Americans).

Can any of my readers recommend some good moderate or liberal Christian blogs? I’m part of Unright Christians, but what I’ve encountered thus far seems to be liberal across the board. That’s just as undesirable to me as uniform conservatism. I’m looking for blogs that support traditional, orthodox (heck, call it conservative if you wish) Christianity and moderate or liberal politics (within reason). Think along the lines of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent de Paul, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, or Dorothy Day.
