Fair Use

I’m not a fan of government-imposed censorship and I believe that parents should
take a more active role in what their children watch on TV and movies.

Hollywood is trying on multiple
fronts
to eradicate customers’ fair
use
rights. One of their targets is parent’s right to control what his children
watch.

Several months ago, a new
DVD player
debuted which would permit the user to “automatically
skip sexual
content, graphically violent scenes and language deemed offensive”.
Directors are furious and Hollywood wants these machines off the market. If you’d
like to see ClearPlay-enabled
players, like RCA’s DRC232N back
on the market
and protected in the future, please sign the Grassfire
Family Movie Act petition

The Thrill is Gone

Some people seem
to be shocked
that “The Passion of the Christ” didn’t start a massive
wave of lasting Christian fervor across the country. I say to them, “Duh!”
People took from the movie what they took in (much like “Fahrenheit 9/11”).
If you expected anti-Semitism, that’s what you saw. If you expected a moving work
of religious art, that’s what you saw. If you expected sado-masochism, that’s what
you saw. I wouldn’t expect a movie like “The Passion” (lots of imagery,
little commentary) to convert someone any more than I would expect a painting to.

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

I first blogged about this waaaay back in April 2002 (the original link is borken, but there’s a alternative.). It seems my old fav has a new animation. 🙂

While you’re here rotting your brain, check this out:

Punk Kittens – Fell in Love With a Girl

Spongemonkeys – We Like the Moon

You may recognize the animation from Quiznos commercials.
