Fight the REAL ID Act in PA

A new Meetup group dedicated to carrying out Ron Paul's principles apart from the presidential election (and there's plenty do on other levels and branches of gov't!) has organized a rally against the REAL ID Act in Pittsburgh:

When
Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM
Where
University of Pittsburgh- William Pitt Union Ballroom 3959 5th Avenue Pittsburgh , PA 15213

 Who should come
Everyone who want to take a stand against the Unconstitutional and Orwellian Real ID Act!

Why Show up to support the Anti-Real ID Bill in the PA Legislature.
Show the "powers that be" that We The People will not stand for being treated like a piece of inventory and having to carry our "papers" just to be able to live and conduct business.

It may not be the point you are looking to make, but I’ve always thought the “unfunded mandate” aspect of REAL ID is its most vulnerable flank. I and don’t remember the Supreme Court decision off hand that declared unfunded mandates unconstitutional but I believe it was in the last 5 or 6 years. Much too my surprise, I don’t think any states have challenged REAL ID on those grounds.

On the other hand, I have to admit it would be more convenient to not have to get a new drivers license every time I move to a new state.
