I made this pledge to my brother-in-law at the end of an interesting political discussion a couple weeks ago:

If Ron Paul is an option in this November's election, I'll vote for him.

It's not because I agree with all, or even most, of his views. It's because I trust him.

I'm not naive. I know that the most ideologically consistent candidates in the major party field couldn't get half of their agendas passed even if elected, but I would at least know where they stood (as opposed to only having a cosmetic set of positions based on polling). I'll take that any day of the week.

Alex, your links are interesting, but they do not address my request. Future out-of-context link-dumps will be treated as spam.

Welcome back to AR, Howard. Long time, no comment. :)

You may be right about Richardson, but his specific reference to the Shah seems suspiciously similar to repeated references to the same, especially in debates, by Paul.

I'm not sure Richardson's statement can be lumped in w/the imitations of Ron Paul.
Some Democrats have been banging the blowback drum for years now. In fact, the reason some liberals think they like Paul, despite his ultra-conservative stance, is he echoes part of what they've been saying all along about Iraq.
