Ain't that always the problem with the observant ones... Their observancy fails to be impressed by the observancy of potential suitors!

Cheers!

I am impressed, Steve.

Anyway, I kinda get addicted to reading blogs, mostly this one, Dappled Things, Pontifications, and Saintly Salmagundi. Sometimes, like for a week at a time, I'm addicted to posting on crossandflame.com, a forum run by a few Methodists (hence the name), and post ten times a day.

I have gotten addicted, and I don't even have a blog. I will be giving up internet browsing (e-mail and work-required intranet excluded) between 2/9 and 3/27.

My $0.02

My history of Lenten penance is kinda goofy: I started going vegan every Lent to impress a girl I knew in high school. Funny part is, she was Jewish. The thing was, she was very observant, and was very much interested in traditional Christian practice. So I decided to go hardcore for Lent, and really benefited from it. I have done so ever since. One of the fringe benefits is that my Orthodox friends who like to brag about how the East is more hardcore about fasts and Lenten observances are humbled.

PS - I never got the girl. She was impressed, but refused to date Gentiles.

Of course since email isn't verboten, I can still send "Letters from the Lenten Wasteland" to Ales Rarus from time to time. (I just won't be able to respond to comments.) This would actually be a VERY challenging task: to post but not to read what I've written or the responses thereunto... very humbling I would guess... We also, as a family, will be giving up all broadcast TV (not video/dvd), and the consumption of mammalian muscle tissue (not milk). Reports from the wasteland just might very well be of some edifying value...

Hmmmm... Whaddaya think, Funky?
